No, opening or closing positions during restricted news events is not allowed for some challenge models. You are prohibited from initiating, closing or holding trades within a 5-minute window before and after the scheduled release of significant restricted news events. However, if a trade was opened at least 5 hours prior to the news event, it may remain open during the event and it is skipped during news trading breach verification. This rule is in place to protect traders from the high volatility typically seen during such events.
Not all red folder or high impact news are restricted. A calendar showing restricted events is available in the Client Area on our website.
Restricted events apply only to instruments affected by the restricted news event.
Please note that Pending Orders that get filled within the restricted time frame — 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after the news event — are considered a rule breach.
